ABOUT
Currently a piano professor at the "Antonio Scontrino" State Conservatory of Music in Trapani, Alessandro Riccardi has taught at Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana, USA) and at the State Conservatory of Music in Vibo Valentia (Italy); he has given masterclasses at the University of Yucatán (Merida, Mexico), the Conservatory of Livorno (Italy) and the Festival dei Colli di San Gemini (TR), in collaboration with the University of Łódź (Poland).
After participating in the piano series at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Settimane musicali at Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, the Giovine Orchestra Genovese, and the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano, Riccardi embarked on concert tours across Europe and America, performing in various venues, including: Teatro degli Arcimboldi (Milan), Palais des Congrès (Paris), Wiener Stadthalle (Vienna), Hallenstadion (Zurich), Geneva Arena (Geneva), Porsche Arena (Stuttgart), Palacio Vistalegre (Madrid), Palacio Euskalduna (Bilbao), Indiana Wesleyan University (Marion, IN, USA), University of Yucatán (Mérida, Mexico), and Teatro Goldoni (Livorno). He has distinguished himself in piano competitions such as the "Indianapolis Matinee Musicale" (IN, USA), "Val Di Sole" (TN), and "Jan Langosz Città di Bardolino" (VR). In 2017, he won the competition to perform Schumann's Piano Concerto with the Monteverdi Orchestra of Bolzano and debuted at the Krzysztof Penderecki Hall in Radom (Poland) and the Athanas Kurtev Hall in Kyustendil (Bulgaria).
During a tour in Mexico in 2019, Alessandro gave a lecture-recital titled "Alexander Scriabin, the Romantic Soul of His Early Piano Works." In 2020, he recorded a monographic CD on Scriabin’s works for the Da Vinci Publishing label (Osaka, Japan), including the world premiere recording of the unfinished Ballade Ahn.14. The project was endorsed by Alexander Serafimovich Scriabin, President of the Scriabin Association of Moscow and great-grandson of the Russian composer. In 2021, to mark the Dantean year, Alessandro produced a monographic CD on Franz Liszt’s music inspired by Italian literature: "Franz Liszt Pèlerinage en Italie, a Piano Journey in Italian Poetry." In 2022, the album was presented in recital form at the University of Zurich during the international conference for the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death and at the University of Potsdam (Germany) during the "Dante and Botticelli" conference. The album received a five-star review from Amadeus magazine, and in October 2022, Alessandro was invited to perform live and give an interview at the RAI Studios in Milan during the "Piazza Verdi" program on Rai Radio 3.
In 2023, Alessandro gave a recital titled "Images of Nature" at the Universities of Uppsala and Potsdam, participating in the international conferences "Mediating Words and Images" and "Le monde végétal, des crépuscules des Lumières à la fin du XIXe siècle." Also in 2023, he began a project to rediscover the composer Gian Francesco Malipiero with pianist Roberto Prosseda, performing in Asolo (TV) in front of Villa Malipiero and giving a lecture-recital for Rai 5 on the 50th anniversary of the composer’s death.
Riccardi trained at the conservatories of Livorno, Bolzano, and Rovigo, graduating with top honors in Piano and Music Didactics. He further refined his skills at the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice (Poland) under the guidance of Andrzei Jasinsky and Wojciech Świtała and obtained an Artist Diploma in Piano Performance from Ball State University (IN, USA), where he taught piano and worked as a collaborative pianist for instrumental and vocal classes, university choirs, and ballet. He is currently developing his third recording project, dedicated to the piano works of Gian Francesco Malipiero. The album will be released in April 2025.
